Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Trudeau Nonstick Egg Poacher with Extended Handle

Customer Review: Works great - no stick
Summary: 5 Stars

Fits our fry-pan just right, and eggs did NOT stick. Time will tell on how long that lasts.

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great every time. just spray with a little olive oil first and it worls like a charm.

Customer Review: Works okay; thoughtful design; reasonable quality
Summary: 4 Stars

An egg poacher isn't rocket science, but there are ways to make them better or worse. The best things about this model are the reasonable size, easy clean-up (I use the dishwasher), and telescoping handle (shrinks to get the lid on the pot, grows for an easier grip). Worst are the poor non-stick (eggs inserted raw still stick a lot unless you oil or spray it) and the lack of holes in the bottom (to help boiling water cook the eggs from below).

Once you stop counting on the nonstick, this gadget makes yummy poached eggs, easily. And it doesn't waste your storage space with an unneeded "special pan"; you just use a pan you already have.

Before buying, you might consider using an electric egg poaching machine or a steamer instead. But it's cheap and does a good job.

Customer Review: A perfectly good egg poacher
Summary: 4 Stars

This poacher does the trick, but it's not the perfect tool. Through using it, I have learned that I would rather have a poacher with removable cups -- it's a challenge to up-end the eggs onto toast when you have to do all of them at the same time. Also, the "extended" handle only extends about an inch. This extra inch doesn't make much difference. Still, it'll poach your eggs. I haven't tested the nonstick finish without adding butter, but with butter I haven't had any sticking problems.

Customer Review: The previous reviewer's facts are correct
Summary: 4 Stars

And it's cheap, & it's perfect for me; why would I want to spend a bunch of money for an electric one that would wear out? My Amazon-bought Zojirushi electric rice cooker is worth it - there's more to cooking rice than boiling an egg. You gotta find a pot with 9" inside diameter and a lid. I use an old spaghetti pot. No more bland boiled eggs -- add vinegar, butter, sauces while the egg poaches.
