Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Trudeau Garlic Press

Customer Review: The best one so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I've tried many garlic presses over the years, and several over the last few months, but this one is the best that I have seen so far. It is strong and doesn't give or bend when I press peeled garlic cloves. It cleans easily, as long as you do it right away.

Customer Review: Broke During 1st Use!
Summary: 1 Stars

Not a fan. Even though the press felt heavy and capable, it really does a poor job with the garlic, imo. It just kind of mangles/juices it, making the garlic clump up and become really, really hard to get at. It's hard to close completely, and the plastic pronged plate that faces the pressing grills and looks to be intended to clean them out, broke the very first time I tried to use it, fell completely off the unit and ended up in the garbage disposal!!! It looks to have been lightly glued into place. No excuse for such shoddy construction.

Since returning a single item of this price is really more trouble than it's worth, I guess I'm stuck with it until I can find one that works. Next time I'll purchase in a store where I can actually feel the press before buying.

Customer Review: Quick and easy
Summary: 5 Stars

I've only used this garlic press a few times, but it works very well. It's solid. I put the whole clove in, peel and all, and squeeze hard. Once garlic is out, open and remove peel. Cleanup is easy if you rinse it right away.

Customer Review: Great garlic press
Summary: 5 Stars

I first read about this garlic press in Cook's Illustrated magazine and checked the reviews on Amazon before ordering it. It is as good as everyone says--pressing garlic cloves so much smoother and finer than the old press I had that I was amazed that there could be such a difference in performance between brands. The one warning I will give that no one else mentioned, so perhaps I'm at fault here, is that it's rather heavy. So if you pick it up with only one handle, be careful that the other handle doesn't come down and hit your hand. It smarts a bit. Other than that, it's a great product.

Customer Review: Former Garlic Chopper, Now Garlic Presser
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't really like a lot of chopping gadgets in my way in the kitchen but I decided to try this garlic press after reading reviews and after making a dish requiring several cloves of garlic. This press is amazing. It is heavy yet squeezeable and you can smush two small cloves at once. I had a cheap-o one and I never used it but now realize the flavor of the pressed garlic results in a tastier product than with finely chopped AND easier and quicker too. The rubber clean-out feature is OK though I usually just use a fork or knife to remove the skin after squeezing when pressing multiple cloves for a dish. I recommend this press and think it is a great value.
