Customer Review: Former Garlic Chopper, Now Garlic Presser

I don't really like a lot of chopping gadgets in my way in the kitchen but I decided to try this garlic press after reading reviews and after making a dish requiring several cloves of garlic. This press is amazing. It is heavy yet squeezeable and you can smush two small cloves at once. I had a cheap-o one and I never used it but now realize the flavor of the pressed garlic results in a tastier product than with finely chopped AND easier and quicker too. The rubber clean-out feature is OK though I usually just use a fork or knife to remove the skin after squeezing when pressing multiple cloves for a dish. I recommend this press and think it is a great value.Customer Review: Great garlic press

I first read about this garlic press in Cook's Illustrated magazine and checked the reviews on Amazon before ordering it. It is as good as everyone says--pressing garlic cloves so much smoother and finer than the old press I had that I was amazed that there could be such a difference in performance between brands. The one warning I will give that no one else mentioned, so perhaps I'm at fault here, is that it's rather heavy. So if you pick it up with only one handle, be careful that the other handle doesn't come down and hit your hand. It smarts a bit. Other than that, it's a great product.Customer Review: I am Impressed

As an Italian I use a lot of Garlic. Even grow my own. For some odd reason I have always used those cheap garlic presses that squish most of the garlic back behind the plunger. I heard they actually made good ones so I checked the reviews on this site and chose the Trudeau Garlic Press as a stocking stuffer for the wife. We both think it's great. It really sends the garlic out the holes instead of around the plunger. You can even use two cloves at once. The hole cleaning do-hicky works nicely too. Nice big handle is easy on your hands too. I am so glad that my old garlic press finally died (actually snapped in half!). I refused to buy a new one while the old one was still kicking, but now that I have this solid, wonderful, self-cleaning press, I wonder why I waited so long! This is the nicest garlic press I have ever used (though I already admitted that for the last decade I have used a cheap, old non-self-cleaning press). It crushes several cloves at once and then cleans up with such ease...no searching for the little cleaning tool, just swing the handle backwards and out falls the garlic mess. I've been using one of those crappy garlic presses most of my life. You know...the cast aluminum ones with the small holes that make you feel more like you're operating the jaws of life rather than performing the simple task of squishing garlic cloves. This unit has some heft to it and feels like a substantial tool. And the cleaning "nubs".....fantastic! After using-- just pick the "skins" out of the press, flip the nubs around to poke out the residue and rinse. Every hole--clean as a whistle. Highly recommended.
